A few days ago, you asked us some questions about the Snapshots game. Today, we've got your answers. Read on to see what's up.
Please note that as this game is still in development, things said in this AMA may become inaccurate in the future. However, our answers reflect the current state of the game as of August 2024.
Q: Will you be able to choose the world you want to go to?
A: Yes. The Squad Leader (always you if you choose to play Solo) will select the world to land at. Some worlds are locked behind progression.
Q: Will the gunplay and movement stay like it was or is it gonna change?
A: Back in June, we gave the first look at what the gunplay and movement looks like in Snapshots. Since then, we've made various tweaks to the movement systems to make them more fluid, and will continue to do so. TL;DR - No.
Q: How many Zones will there be in total?
A: As of this AMA, there are six Zones in the base game. However, we want to add more before launch, and with live service updates too.
Q: Will there be hero classes?
A: Yes! We have a slightly different system called "Augments", which you can swap out at any time to best match the conditions and mission you are playing through.
Q: Will weapons with bullet drop be added to snapshots at anypoint?
A: We are planning a "Modular Series" of weapons to allow support for this, however there are still decisions to be made regarding balancing and the trade-off for bullet drop compared to hitscan weaponry.
Q: What will the difficulty be like?
A: The difficulty scales with Zones! We currently have a star-rating system that rates a Zone based on its difficulty, however we are also considering ways to have the difficulty level up during play.
Q: Will “Save The Verse” be connected to the Snapshots Battle Royale lore or be a complete other storyline?
A: The story of these two modes are directly connected. You can check our previous blogpost for the specifics.
Q: Will Save The Verse have custom Boss fights?
A: This is something we really want to do, but whether its possible ultimately comes down to technical limitations.
Q: How long does it take to finish / 100% StV?
A: Hard to say right now. What we're currently aiming for is a short experience that can be beaten in just a few hours, but has endless replayability with a lot of content to explore and discover (much like Risk of Rain 2 or Lethal Company).
Q: Will stv have real voice lines?
A: It's in the cards.
Q: Will there be more content in stv post launch, and if there is, for how long?
A: Yes. We wish to add new weapons every fortnight, and new Zones every ~6-8 weeks for at least 12 months after launch.
Q: When does stv take place?
A: Snapshots (Save the Verse) takes place following the finale of Battle Royale Venture 1.
Q: Will there be sigma?
A: Uh, sure.
