EPIC RESPONDS: A WIN FOR CREATORS

A win for the creators: on Jan 19th Epic responded to the Discover issues for the first time, in a series of tweets from the Fortnite Creators @FNCreate account:

"Feedback rendered in UE?! That’s awesome. We’re glad things are gucci and appreciate the thoughtful video. Moderation is critical to our ecosystem and a big area of investment for us."

(When pressed further about if Epic are working on fixing issues plaguing Discover):

"The short answer: yes.

The long answer:

- This Island was mistakenly flagged for nudity, which prevents re-submission without edits. We're actively working on our Island Moderation process, training and documentation so this doesn’t happen, and we welcome any creator to appeal a moderation enforcement action.

- We're also aware of the other areas addressed in the video and removed 100+ content violations last weekend directly because of the community bringing it to our attention. We are actively listening.

- We encourage creators to understand our rules and the DMCA process: fn.gg/IP-DMCA-Guidelines"

It's good to see Fortnite responding! We still need more clarity and action on the state of Discover, which still goes largely unaddressed. We're not seeing the "investment" into Moderation. There's still much more to be done, but Epic has shown themselves to be responsive. Now, we need them to be proactive and act BEFORE these abusive maps cause uproar.

This is a good start. #FixFortnite
