Some have raised concerns regarding legal concerns with projects such as "APOLLO HEAT GAME" against Epic Games TOS. This page has been created to relax such fears.

HEAT GAME is designed as a completely new, unique genre in Fortnite; a transformative take on Epic modes such as Battle Royale and Late Game. Epic rules state that full Battle Royale map remakes (excluding Chapter 1) are NOT permitted in the ecosystem. Here is why this does not apply to Heat Game:

MAP EXCLUSIONS

Sections of the map have been entirely omitted from the remake to ensure that this does not qualify as a "full" map remake. For example, in Apollo, Craggy Cliffs and a majority of Landmarks are not included in the project.

ACCESSIBLE AREAS

Additionally, in HEAT GAME only the active storm zone is explorable. Players can only visit one POI at any time, making HEAT GAME no different to the thousands of POI Late Games in the Discover ecosystem.

MARKETING

HEAT GAME is advertised as a unique experience, using the Fortnite Battle Royale map as a base to enjoy a new gameplay format on. The marketing of HEAT GAME emphasises return to these maps, however does not advertise itself as a CHAPTER REMAKE (such as Rewind Royale or Atlas OG Battle Royale)

HEAT GAME IN THE ECOSYSTEM

HEAT GAME exists entirely within the Fortnite ecosystem and its existence only benefits Epic Games. Epic has permitted countless similar maps -- including ReVibed, Chapter 5 Late Game, and more, to exist in their ecosystem and even permitted payouts. HEAT GAME does not attempt to steal or mislead players, is built with upmost passion and respect for Epic's properties, and intends to be a genuine creation in the ecosystem.

 

Epic's rules are intended to stop people directly profiting off of their Battle Royale maps, however HEAT GAME serves as a transformative, original experience that merely uses the Battle Royale POIs as set-pieces, as thousands of prior maps have done. While HEAT GAME goes to great effort to make the experience feel as authentic and immersive as possible, this is no legitimate reason to penalize only our maps.
